Muscle strain

Muscle strain

An excessive stretch or tearing of muscle fibres and related tissues can occur all over the body but most commonly happens in calves, hamstrings and groin.

Often caused by a sudden stretch or a rapid contraction against resistance and results in pain when doing activity i.e. when stretching or contracting the muscle, in severe strains the limb may become swollen and bruising may develop within 24-48 hours.

We can use a variety of techniques to reduce the inflammation and pain including massage, mobilisation, ultrasonic therapy, interferential therapy, acupuncture, injection therapy, taping and an at-home on-going treatment plan.
